LO1: Skyrim Review

The game I have decided to review myself is Skyrim The Elder Scrolls V, this is due to the fact that I believe there are quite a lot of aspects of this game that I can review.

Genre

The style of genre that Skyrim the elder scrolls V is is an action RPG game, this is due to the fact that it allows you to create your own customisable character undergoing the story of the dragon born . Another reason why Skyrim is part of this genre is due to the fact that many of the decisions you make an effect different aspects of the diegesis, this could relate to the main story quest or in some terms the side quests.

Narrative/Storyline

In terms of the narrative structure of Skyrim The Elder Scrolls V, we have come to an understanding that the diegesis of the game is set in a dystopian  environment due to pervious civil war that took place between the rebellious stormcloaks and the imperial legion. But also within this storyline we come to discover that dragons have also returned to the land of skyrim, this makes the overall objective of the game to find out and discover why they have returned along with the dragonborn.

Production Process

Characterisation

Bethesda really got it right when it came to the production of creating your own character within the diegesis of he game. By allowing the audience to produce their own custom character we feel cooer to the games diegesis therefore being more attached to the game. The character you create is know as the dragon born and he is the heir to the thum, this means he has a link between the ancient language of the dragons.

Throughout this game you will encounter a few characters that will fight beside you throughout the diegesis of this game , therefore building relationships within the game. The first main character you encounter in The Elder Scrolls V is the Jarl of Whiterun, during the gem you begin to get a better understanding that depending on the decisions you make it could effect the ending of the war to come in the game. This connects with the audience of the game due to the fact that they will feel more involved within the story by giving out commands that could shape the future of the land of Skyrim.

The characterisation matches with the genre of the Elder Scrolls V, this is due to the fact that it is an action RPG game. the good thing they did about building the characters to fit the genre was giving them their own dialog based on what your character says, this really fits into the whole RPG side of the genre by not limiting characters speech by small lines of dialog.

Gameplay

Throughout the whole of The Elder Scrolls V you will encounter a large range of challenges within the land of Skyrim that can either effect you physically or mentally. The challenges range from physical bruit strength task like 'Kill the dragon' to 'Solve the puzzle', this allows the player to become more interactive within the digests of the game by allowing him/her to feel the verisimilitude of the game.

When playing the Elder Scrolls V I believe that the most difficult challenge you can experience head on is fighting a dragon. This is due to them being unscripted, this means they can freely roam the land of Skyrim meaning that you will encounter then at any point in time and sometimes its unexpected. during some conditions during the game this could either benefit you during battle or leave you do an incredible disadvantage.

The elements that I believe what made this game successful is the fact that it was an open world RPG, this really builds the verisimilitude of the game building a natural environment around
